Only the 2nd black squirrel I've seen and the first one I was able to get shots of. This was taken across the street from the governor's mansion. What a beautiful squirrel!!!!!

I just saw a news article on the BBC news about black squirrels. I'd never even heard of them, so I just to look up a picture. They're so cute! Much darker than I thought.

Wow, actually kinda reminds me of Stella from Over the Hedge after they put all that make-up on her. I've never seen one in the wild, though; I haven't even seen a Western Gray here, and I live in the west. o_o

There are a lot of them around this area. I guess Iowa has tons and they've moved this way. Hopefully I'll have more shots later this spring of them.

Gorgeous squirrel. We have plenty of them up here. They're both beautiful and adorable

I've heard they're more common in Northern areas because they black fur absorbs the heat from the sun better. I don't know if that's true.

I wish I did! However, where I'm moving too I was told there are plenty of them around so expect some in the near future. I will be on a mission to find the black ones!!! :giggle:

hmmmmm....as I was typing was thinking and think I do actually but they're not the greatest shots. Was from a different place/time. Will have to go looking through all my pics and see if I can find them!

:) Fresh ones will be just fine if you manage to catch more. I know how many photos can crop up over time. Ive reset the number timer three times on my Canon already and havent been using it all that long.
